What to Expect:New patient and follow-up
appointments are available at all office locations. New patient
evaluations include a history and physical exam performed by the
physician. Based on the physician’s initial assessment, pulmonary
function testing and allergy skin testing may be performed. If X-rays or
blood tests are necessary, the patient will be referred to an
appropriate diagnostic center. The new patient evaluation may take 1-3
hours depending on tests performed. A follow-up appointment may be
scheduled to review the test results and formulate a treatment plan.
Treatment may include allergen avoidance, medication, and allergy
injections.
Please Note the Following:
Antihistamines
and some stomach antacids (Zantac/ranitidine, Tagamet/cimetidine, Pepcid/famotidine, and Axid/nizatidine)
may interfere with allergy skin testing. Allegra/fexofenadine, Zyrtec/cetirizine,
Xyzal/levocetirizine, Claritin/loratadine, Clarinex, and hydroxyzine should be stopped one week before testing.
Other antihistamines and antacids should be stopped two days before
testing. Do not stop asthma medications or steroids.
